Custom Splints & Hand Braces in Hamilton, Ontario

A custom splint is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It is fabricated specifically for your hand, your injury, and your stage of recovery.

The right splint doesn’t just protect the injury, it gives you the ability to function while you heal. Plus, when it is designed and fitted by hand therapy professionals, it becomes one of the most valuable tools in your rehabilitation.

At Integration Health, custom splints and bracing are provided by our hand therapists, Michael Vallely and Adrienne Nichols, each with over 24 years of experience treating hand and upper limb conditions.

What Do Custom Splints Do?

Injuries and conditions of the hand and wrist involve some of the most intricate and delicate structures in the body, including nerves, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, muscles, and joints working in close coordination.

Treatment requires a level of specialization that reflects that complexity.

A well-designed custom splint can:

  • Protect injured structures during the healing process

  • Reduce pain and swelling

  • Prevent unnecessary complications

  • Support an earlier return to movement and function

Unlike off-the-shelf braces, a custom splint is shaped precisely to your anatomy and adjusted as your recovery progresses.

What Do Custom Splints Treat?

Custom splinting and bracing are used in the management of a wide range of hand and wrist injuries and conditions, including:

  • Tendon injuries

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Arthritis

  • Fractures

  • Burns and crush injuries

  • Lacerations

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation

  • Tennis elbow

  • And other upper limb conditions

In addition to custom splints, our hand therapists can apply taping and bracing as part of treatment.

Custom Splinting as Part of Multidisciplinary Care

An injury to your hand or wrist rarely affects only that area. Compensatory movement patterns develop throughout the wrist, arm, shoulder, and neck as your body adapts.

At Integration Health, our hand therapists work alongside physiotherapists and osteopathic manual practitioners who can address those broader patterns so that the rest of your body supports your recovery rather than working against it.
