Your hands are involved in almost everything you do. Pouring your morning coffee, typing, lifting, holding someone’s hand. When an injury or condition affects one or both of them, even the most routine daily tasks can become a significant challenge.
At Integration Health, our hand therapists bring focused expertise and decades of experience to the assessment and treatment of hand and upper limb conditions so you can get back to what matters.
Integration Health's hand therapy clinic has been an essential part of Hamilton's rehabilitation community for over 50 years.
Our hand therapists assess and manage a wide range of upper limb problems, including:
Tendon injuries
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Arthritis
Fractures
Tennis elbow
Lacerations
Post-surgical rehabilitation
If your condition isn't listed here, get in touch. Hand therapy covers a broad spectrum of upper limb concerns, and we're happy to help determine whether we're the right fit for your needs.
Treatment is always tailored to your specific injury, condition, and goals. Our hand therapists can provide:
Consultation to help you understand the best path forward
Explanations of your injury or condition and what to expect during recovery
An individualized exercise program to restore movement and strength
Custom splints designed and fitted to your needs
Wound care, swelling management, and scar management
Pain management and desensitization strategies
Guidance on positioning and work practices
Custom splints are designed and fabricated specifically for you, not a generic, off-the-shelf solution. A well-fitted splint can protect an injured structure, reduce pain, support healing, and help restore function faster.
Our hand therapists also apply taping and bracing as part of treatment. Taping supports the injured muscle or joint, giving the surrounding tissue a chance to rest and recover. It's a technique that goes home with you, continuing to work between appointments and supporting an earlier return to movement and function.
An injury to your hand rarely affects only your hand. Compensation can develop throughout the wrist, arm, shoulder, and neck as your body adapts to protect the injured area.
At Integration Health, our hand therapists work alongside in-house physiotherapists and osteopathic manual practitioners who address those broader compensatory patterns so that the rest of your body is supporting your recovery, not working against it.
Integration Health has been serving Downtown Hamilton, Hamilton Mountain and the surrounding communities for over 65 years.
You’re in good hands, and we mean that literally.
